A newcomer's tale

Nimisha, born and bought up in Mumbai, is a newcomer to Mollywood.

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum is an upcoming Malayalam film written by Sajeev Pazhoor and directed by Dileesh Pothan, the director of blockbuster movie Maheshinte Prathikaram, starring Fahadh Faasil and Nimisha Nair in the lead roles.

Nimisha, born and bought up in Mumbai, is a newcomer to Mollywood. She always had the passion for acting and it’s a dream come true for her now. “Working with leading actors has been wonderful,” says Nimisha. “And it’s a privilege to work with a born actor like Fahadh Faasil. He helped me polish the character and understand the minute details of acting.” The director and cinematographer Rajeev were supportive and guided her through the character.

Nimisha, a student of mass communication at K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research in Mumbai, responded to a call Dileesh Pothan made as part of the selection process, and then she made through the audition. The character she portrays is Sreeja, a village girl working in a supermarket.

“It was a challenge for me to essay the role given my background,” says Nimisha. “I started my preparations before the shooting began.”

The director, who had a clear idea of the character, helped her maintain the body language of the village lass which she was not very familiar with. The film is expected to hit the screen by the end of June. Suraj Venjaramoodu, Soubin Shahir and Alancier also act in the film.

Nimisha says Urvashi and Manju Warrier and the characters they played are her motivation and she wishes she could get similar challenging roles. She is currently working with Shane Nigam on a movie which is yet to be named.
