Actress abduction case: SIT may move court against Dileep's bail
Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the actor abduction and sexual assault case, is planning to move the court seeking cancellation of bail granted to Dileep claiming that the actor had violated bail conditions.
State Police Chief Lokanath Behera on Tuesday held discussions with the director general of prosecution in this regard and the investigation team is likely to approach the judicial first class magistrate court in Angamaly this week itself.
Earlier in the day, the High Court while considering Mr Dileep's petition seeking permission to travel abroad termed charges of the actor "attempting to influence" witnesses in the case as "serious". It suggested the prosecution could approach the JFM court at Angamaly in case if the actor had violated bail conditions.
According to sources, the prosecution said the actor, while on bail, got in touch with Nadirshah, a key witness in the case in violation of one of the bail conditions. They also accused him of attempting to influence a few employees of Lakshya, an online apparel store run by the actor's wife Kavya Madhavan.
The SIT also suspects foul play behind three key witnesses in the case including Charley and an employee of Lakshya, reportedly changing their stance in favour of Mr Dileep before a magistrate.
According to them, the attempt by the actor to initiate a CBI probe by levelling allegations against existing investigation officers amounted to clear violation of bail conditions.
The SIT is in the final stages of submitting the chargesheet against the actor and the other accused in the case. The document, running over 1,000 pages, is slated to be submitted before the judicial first class magistrate court soon.
