Director Sajin Babu’s third venture, Biriyani starring Kani Kusruti in the lead role will be premiered at the 20th Asiatica Film Festival to be held in Italy from October 3 to 9. It has been selected in the competition category, and is said to be the opening film at the festival. In the movie, Kani plays the character Khadeeja, whose brother goes missing.
Khadeeja’s life turns upside down, and she is forced to find her foot in the chaotic life. Shot in Varkala and Atankara in Thiruvananthapuram and Tamil Nadu respectively, the remaining cast of Biriyani includes J. Shailaja, who acts as Khadeeja’s mother, Anil Nedumangad, Surjith, Jayachandran and Shyam Reji, Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, Pushavathy and Maitreyan. Cinematography is by Karthik Muthukumar and Harishankar.
