Web series are all the rage these days. In Kerala too, the audience is warming up to this online entertainment format. Toofan Mail, starring Sreenath Bhasi and Archana Kavi, received a lot of attention. Following on its heels is The Anatomy of a Kamukan, which stars Vishnu Agasthya in the lead role. The project, directed by Thambi, is being produced by Gautham Menon’s Ondraga Entertainment in association with KaChaTaThaPa Originals. The Anatomy of a Kamukan will be Ondraga Entertainment’s first step into the Malayalam industry. Fresh concepts stem from great friendship and the story is no different here. “The series deals with different sorts of male lovers,” says Vishnu.
“The team were working together on some projects. This thought was inspired from a video that showcased different kinds of drunkards. And we thought why not try to show different types of male lovers? So everyone gave their inputs, discussed the types of male lovers they have seen, and we chose some of the interesting ones,” he explains on zeroing in on the theme.
They have shot two episodes of the series, with one airing today and the next one on July 27. They consider themselves lucky to have Gautham Menon present their project. “We shot two episodes of the series and sent it to Ondraga Entertainments. We then got to know that Gautham sir had seen both and would be contacting us soon. He then called and said he is interested in this project,” he says.
They are hopeful of continuing their association with the company in future too.
Vishnu is famous as a vibrant VJ and has worked with some well-known Malayalam channels. He has also done roles in movies like Aalorukkam, Maradona and Oru Kuprasidha Payyan. “I had a continuous role in Aalorukkam. Even though the movie got fame and acceptance, people are still reluctant to watch such movies in theatres,” he says.
The same team plans to continue with fresh web series and movies in future too.
“The Anatomy of a Kamukan is made in a sarcastic way. The viewers will definitely be entertained. We have a very young crowd here and they are in awe of some international and national web series. The viewers here are always ready to recognise initiatives that are strong and entertaining,” he wraps up.
