For those who went and watched Oozham, one character that’d remain in your memory is that of Aishwarya Krishnamoorthy the loving sister of Prithviraj’s character. Rasna Pavithran, who played the role, is very enthusiastic about the part.
“It was a great team to work with, and especially a privilege to work with director Jeethu Joseph. I couldn’t be happier getting to act as Raju ettan (Prithviraj)’s sister. Jeethu sir saw my portfolio and gave a positive response seeing one of my selfies. It was one of those very natural poses that cleared the first round. Then I was called for the audition. After the audition I had an intuition that I was going to get this part. And, that became true,” says Rasna.
Her first movie was Maunam, where she had a chance to act with late actor Thilakan . “I consider myself lucky to have acted alongside Thilakan sir. Since then I have been waiting to work with a good team. Since I come from a very conservative background from Kannur, it is important for me to make a good mark. That is why I am taking slow and safe steps in this field,” says Rasna.
However, the actress says she misses her father, who passed away without seeing her make it in the field. “My father wouldn’t approve of my interest in the cinema field, but I am sure he would have been proud of my current achievement. It was quite a struggle till I realised my dream. I feel bad that he is not with me to share my success,” she says.
Rasna is also acting in Jomonte Suvisheshangal, which is directed by Sathyan Anthikadu. “I will be playing a character named Tessa who is Dulquer Salman’s sister. Not that I would do typecast sister roles only. For me, cinema was always a dream so it is all about learning more with a good team.”
Another upcoming project for Rasna is director Kamal’s Kamala Surraiya biopic Ami, where the actress will be sharing screen space with Vidya Balan.
“At present, I am not allowed to discuss more,” signs off Rasna.
