Fun Fukri days
Krishna Prabha stepped into Malayalam film industry back in the early 2000’s. Soon enough, she was tagged as one of the very few female actors who can handle humour. But today, after having acted in nearly 50 films, the actress has proved that she can handle any role thrown at her.
Krishna is currently awaiting the release of the film Fukri in which she plays Clara, an Anglo Indian. “I am paired opposite Bhagath Manuel.” Elaborating on whether this one too is a humorous character like the many she has pulled off before, she says, “It’s a fun movie. I would not tag it entirely under ‘humour’ though. I am playing an Anglo-Indian for the first time. The dressing and body language is different and fun. The movie will release on February 3.”
Sharing her experience working with ace director Siddique, Krishna says, “I have previously worked with him for a stage show. This is my first film with him. It was brilliant to work with such a senior director.”Apart from Jayasurya-starrer Fukri, Krishna is all excited about having been part of Honey Bee 2: Celebrations. “The shoot is over. I became good friends with Jean (Lal Jr) and team during their 2015 Siddique-Lal show. In fact, this whole team is a circle of close-knit friends now. It is this friendship that led me to this movie."
Elaborating more about the character, she says, “I play Bhavana's character Angel’s sister-in law. It was earlier played by another actress, but the team wanted to make the character more prominent and replaced the actor with me. I am a pregnant woman throughout the movie,” she laughs.
She remembers the fun times during the shoot, “When I watched Honey Bee, I really wished to be a part of the film, but never expected that such a chance would turn up. Working with them was so much fun, that it did not even feel like a shoot. Even when there was no shoot, I used to go and sit in the location.”
Quizzed about being typecast into humour roles, Krishna clarifies, “That is the one thing I am trying to stay away from. That is something every artist will be trying to break free from, I think. Luckily for me, I have been getting to attempt all kinds of characters. Movies like Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty and Indian Pranaya Kadha were the movies where I could play serious roles. Moreover, I think the industry is slowly changing nowadays when it comes to typecasting actors. It is a welcome change.”
