Malayalam actress abduction: Kerala High Court seeks state view on Dileep

Actor raises strong contentions including references to ex-wife, assaulted actress.

Kochi: Kerala High Court on Monday sought the view of the state government on the bail plea of actor Dileep, an accused in the assault on actress case. The star moved the court challenging the Judicial First Class Magistrate court - Angamaly denying him bail. The court will consider his plea on Thursday. He raised strong contentions including references to former wife Manju Warrier and the actress. Dileep said, "Reference is made to two other witnesses- the complainant and Manju Warrier, who appeared to have been questioned by additional director general of police. These witnesses can never be influenced by the petitioner".

The magistrate in his order had said the allegations are grievous in nature and there was a chance of tampering with evidence. "Hence in order to ensure his presence during the investigation and also to convey the strong message to the like minded person that the offence will not be taken lightly, the bail plea is dismissed," According to Dileep, the observation seriously prejudices him as he had been prima facie declared to be guilty by the magistrate. It was unfair and unjust.

He described Pulsar Suni as a notorious criminal involved in many abduction and robbery case. He argued that the police was relying on his statements and he had been arraigned as an accused. Dileep, who was arrested on July 10 and in judicial custody since, argued that he was implicated in the case after a deep rooted conspiracy at high levels. The petition stated that he is a well-known film actor, having no criminal records but a person doing much charity works.

Though the complainant personally knows Dileep for long years, she had not mentioned any word about him in the detailed complaint. After the arrest of Pulsar Suni and others, the police openly declared that there was no conspiracy involved, which was affirmed by the chief minister. Dileep pointed out that about 19 incidents are narrated by the police justifying his arrest and majority of them are unrelated to him. Eight points cited by the police were related to his driver, staff and others.
