Rajinikanth calls Taramani a bold film
Taramani, an offbeat female centric movie released last Friday, has opened up to highly positive reviews. For a film, which was in the making for four years, its director national award winner Ram was skeptical of its reception and success. But Taramani has proved that a well made movie with good and quirky content will be lapped up by audiences. Rajinikanth watched the movie recently and had remarked that it is a bold attempt. He has also had words of praise for producer JSK who has debuted as an actor in a cameo, and spoke in detail about the film's BO response.
At the thanksgiving meet of the movie, Ram said, "I have completed a decade in Tamil cinema, so have Andrea and JSK. It was for the first time theater owners had called up and said, 'people are coming in large numbers to the theaters and we are confident that it would collect well and be a box office hit'. This did not happen for my earlier movies (smiles).”
He added, "When movies like Mani sir's OK Kanmani which was on living-in relationship and Karthik Subbaraj's Iraivi which talked about feminism, came, I felt Taramani might go dated. Also in the 4 years of wait, the value systems in the society were also changing. There was no WhatsApp when I started the script. So, we brought it only in the second half."
Yet another situation he got jittery was when JSK suddenly announced that Taramani would release on August 11 along with Vivegam. "I was very upset and angry and told him how unwise it was. But it was Andrea who convinced me saying that both the films have contrasting storylines and asked me not to worry about it."
