Malayalam can be all ears as the Oscar nominations get announced in January next year. We Will Rise, the song in the English version of Jayaraj’s Veeram is in contention for the original song category of the Academy Award nominations. Jeff Rona has composed the song and background music for the film. Altogether 91 songs are in the running for the nomination. Five songs will figure in the final.
A version of Shakespearian tragedy Macbeth, Veeram stars B-Town star Kunal Kapoor in the lead role as Chanthu. The film is the fifth in the navarasa franchise of the director after Sneham, Santham, Karunam and Athbhutham. Veeram is primarily shot in the locations at Ellora caves, Aurangabad, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri. The tri-lingual movie is slated for a January release.
