Affixing his signature on world of cinema: Faraaz Ahamed

After all, this 13-year-old is the main actor in the IFFK signature film in which he is shown sticking posters on a tea stall.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Every IFFK delegate would recognise Faraaz Ahamed if he would come to any of the venues. After all, this 13-year-old is the main actor in the IFFK signature film in which he is shown sticking posters on a tea stall. It was after he started acting in skits at his school—Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School, Thiruvallom—that his father Sameer Ahammed started sending photographs to filmmakers. He has acted in various Malayalam movies, including Maheshinte Prathikaram.

His first shot was with film and theatre actor Alencier. “I was a little afraid at first. However, I got over the fear,” he says. Now, he is not afraid of camera anymore.
He says that acting in the signature film was relatively easy, as its director T. K. Rajeevkumar would act it out for him and make it comfortable. His family did not get IFFK delegate passes. “But I had gone for the release of the signature film. Many told me that I acted well,” he says.

Being a busy young one, he misses quite a few classes. “My friends are very helpful. They send notes,” he says. He loves to sign and make sketches. However, for a lover of arts, he likes science. He says he wants to work in the film industry when he grows up. He has been chosen for yet another Malayalam movie, ‘Gabri’. “The shooting starts on January 10. But I don’t know when I would be needed,” he said.
