MLA P T Thomas sees bid to sabotage Malayalam actor assault investigation

He urged the prosecution in the case to be more vigilant.

Kochi: There are deliberate attempts from certain corners to sabotage the actor abduction case and to save the accused using money and power, Congress party legislator P.T. Thomas MLA alleged on Thursday. He said massive PR works are being used to save the accused in jail. “K.B Ganesh Kumar MLA’s visit to Dileep and his statement supporting the actor and sharp criticism against police officials are part of this move. It is shocking that influential opinion maker like Sebastian Paul has openly supported the actor. How a media person like him can make such statements.

He is the latest catch of the PR campaign,” he told a press conference. “If they are sincere and committed, they should have visited the girl, who is passing through tough times. Another CPM MLA A.N. Shamseer alleged that the victim was negotiating to settle the case through a financial deal. The CPM and LDF leadership should explain the action taken against the lawmakers who made such statements."

He urged the prosecution in the case to be more vigilant. He also alleged that Innocent MP and Mr Kumar had boycotted the state film awards function as part of pressure tactics. “The government should make its stand clear in this crucial case of atrocity against women which has no precedence. The government should also check whether there are deliberate attempts to weaken the morale of investigating officers,” he added.
