Actress assault case: Bail denied to Dileep, to be in custody until July 25
Mumbai: Actor Dileep's bail plea has again been rejected by the Angamaly magistrate, which extended his custody till July 25.
Earlier, after his 48-hour custody period had culminated, the court had extended it to until 5 PM on Saturday.
The actor had been sensationally arrested a few days back, in relation to the abduction and alleged sexual assault of a popular Malayalam actress, circa February, this year.
The act was also reportedly filmed for future blackmailing, by main accused Pulsar Suni.
Dileep is all set to be named second accused in the high-profile case, which has shook the entire state.
The police also claimed that the actor has been refusing to cooperate with the investigation. They have also alleged that Dileep has been in custody of the clips in question.
According to the investigation team, since the complainant was an actress, Dileep may attempt to threaten her on film sets and even cause a law and order situation. The investigation team on Friday demanded Dileep’s custody, stating a number of reasons including the safety of the actress.
Police submitted before the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate that they were yet to recover the mobile phone used to record the act.
Police submitted that they were yet to question Adv Pratheesh Chacko, who was the one who allegedly collected the phone from Pulsar Sunil, the first accused. If Dileep was released, chances of the police recovering the mobile phone would decline.
The duo first met at Abad Plaza hotel in Kochi in 2013 during the rehearsal of an event organised by AMMA. They met in room number 410 and decided to capture the video, which Dileep insisted should be original. During the rehearsal, Dileep shouted at the actress.
In another instance, Dileep and Suni met at Thrissur during the shoot of Georgettan's Pooram, a movie acted by Dileep. They discussed the plot behind a caravan, the police said. The cops revealed that Dileep was arrested at Carnival Guest House at Athani at 6 pm on Monday.
The police had earlier said that they would be recording statements of Dileep’s second wife Kavya Madhavan and her mother Shyamala, director Lal and MLA PT Thomas, before the investigation is wrapped up.
Apparently, the victim leaked Dileep's 'affair' with current wife Kavya Madhavan to his then wife Manju Warrier back in 2013.
