National award-winning actor-director Salim Kumar on Wednesday took to Facebook to request commuters of Kochi Metro to maintain cleanliness while travelling. Known for his political opinions and candidness, the actor says, "Those who are used to littering, spitting and scribbling on trains and KSRTC buses might be waiting to board the metro. But you are in for trouble (sic). Metro is not for you."
Claiming that the excellent surveillance system in stations and trains will earn them jail or fine, he says that the facility will teach society to maintain cleanliness if proper monitoring and legal action are ensured. "The only clean public pillars in Kerala without advertisement posters or pamphlets would be those of the Metro," he said. Hopeful that the service would be a big boost to Kochi's tourism sector, Salim Kumar congratulated Team Metro led by E. Sreedharan for materialising the project without much delay.
