Ending the eight-year-long wait after a 2010 premier at the Indian panorama, M.T. Annur directorial Kalchilambu is all set to hit the screens next week. The movie starring Vineeth and Samvrutha Sunil, who had quit her acting career after wedding to US-based engineer Akhil Jayaraj six years ago, is a romantic drama set against the backdrop of the art form Theyyam.

How the love affair between Kannan, a Theyyam artiste from a lower caste, and Karthika, a woman who hails from an aristocratic family, results in banishment from society and a series of unfortunate incidents form the crux of the story. The film, which has soulful songs penned and composed by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, has an ensemble cast including Saikumar, Mohan Sharma, Mala Aravindan, Madhupal, Augustine and Shivani among others.
