Kalabhavan Mani's brother sees probe delay
Thrissur: The investigation into the mysterious death of actor Kalabhavan Mani is being intentionally delayed, R.L.V. Ramakris-hnan, the brother of the actor has alleged. He told mediapersons at his home in Chalakkudy on Thursday that even two months after the death, the police was yet to confirm whether it was a murder, or suicide or if his brother died due to any fatal disease.
The tests at the Regional Chemical Examiners’ Laboratory at Kakkanad found traces of chlorpyrifose, a pesticide, in the visceral samples of Mani, apart from methanol in his body. Mr Ramakrishnan said that at his outhouse near Mani’s house in Chalakkudy named ‘Paadi’, the actor was planning to build a ‘Nalukettu’ model house and a flat.
“My brother had lent huge amount of money to several people and the involvement of his close associates and even relatives can be investigated. If the investigation is not completed soon, we are planning for a protest along with Dalit organisations,” he said.
He also noted that even after one month after the samples were submitted for examination, the Central Forensic Lab in Hyderabad has not yet given the lab report to the investigating officers on the viscera samples of the actor. Crime Branch SP Unniraja, who was heading the investigating team said that the lab report was expected anytime soon and that would give a headway to the investigation.
Mani had died on March 6 at Amrita Hospital in Kochi. He was admitted in the hospital after he spit blood at his ‘Paadi’ outhouse a day before and was suffering from acute liver cirrhosis.
