Don't mind even small roles: Vineeth Viswam

Getting the diction right was the first task for Thrissur native Vineeth Viswam to play Bheeman in Angamaly Diaries.

Angamaly Diaries could be counted in the league of movies that have of late been unflinchingly breaking the conventional framework. Applause to the directors who come up with stories which unconditionally connect with the public. The story line and the characters of Angamaly Diaries, despite being devoid of the so-called ‘glamour’ and superstars, were accepted by the audience.

The Lijo Jose Pellissery film has opened new avenues for a bunch of youngsters, like Vineeth Viswam who essayed the character of Bheeman and managed to grab the spotlight in the best possible manner. Vineeth, like many others who are passionate about cinema and are more than happy to be the part of it in whatever way possible, started off as an assistant director and was part of films like Su Su Sudhi Valmeekam, Jilebi and Pretham.

Despite realising his acting dreams, Vineeth did not back out from assisting director Ranjith Sankar in Ramante Eden Thottam. “I am so passionate about cinema that I will never mind doing even a small part in any movie. Therefore I didn’t feel that I should stop being an assistant director to become an actor. However, I think that I should concentrate on acting, not because I have become something great but because I feel that there are many flaws I need to work on and get them fixed as soon as possible because talent is the only thing that can help you sustain in this industry,” says Vineeth, whose only regret is that he hasn’t still watched Angamaly Diaries as he was busy with Ramante Eden Thottam.

In the film, Bheeman is responsible for a major twist in the plot. During audition he sounded much like a Thrissur karan. However, actor-scriptwriter Chemban Vinod, Lijo Jose Pellissery and his co-stars helped him a lot during a camp arranged before the shoot began and he seamlessly fit into the way an Angamaly karan looks, talks and behaves. On his future plans, he says that he wishes not to be typecast in any way. “I had felt extreme pressure while doing the movie as I knew it well that it is not easy to bag a role in the film of a director who has a vision about his story. Therefore I can’t afford to go back. I need to work hard and be in cinema for the rest of my life. I want to write and direct films. However, as of now, I want to strive and earn a name in the industry.”
