Malayalam actress abduction: Nadirshah fails to appear before cops
Kochi: Though discharged from the hospital, actor-director Nadirshah on Monday didn’t turn up before the special investigation team (SIT) for interrogation in connection with the actor abduction and sexual assault case as he demanded the police to issue another notice. The police, however, took a stand not to issue a new notice asking him to appear before them, as a petition he filed seeking anticipatory bail is pending before the High Court.
According to sources, the SIT too has sought legal opinion on summoning him immediately and is likely to wait till the court considers the bail petition on Wednesday. Last week, the cops had issued a notice asking him to appear at the Aluva police club for questioning after the investigation found several of his earlier statements “false and contradictory”. However, actor Dileep's close friend got himself admitted to a private hospital here complaining of chest pain and finally got discharged on Sunday night.
In his anticipatory bail petition, he claimed that the cops were pressuring him to give false statements and that they were threatening to arrest him. The court had sought the opinion of prosecution on his bail plea. Meanwhile, actor Anoop Chandran has given a statement to the SIT that Dileep, arrested on conspiracy charges, had a major role in spoiling many of his film opportunities. He accused him of threatening him at the shooting location of film Moz and Cat after he made some remarks against mimicry during a television show. Ernakulam Rural SP recorded the statement over phone.
