Kochi: Actor turned MP and president of AMMA expressed shock over Dileep’s involvement in the criminal conspiracy case. In a clear volte-face, Innocent, in a Facebook post said AMMA decided to expel Dileep after the cops booked him in the case. “Such a person cannot be retained in an organisation like AMMA”. Referring to criticism against AMMA for its earlier stance, Innocent said AMMA had limitation in taking a decision when details of the conspiracy and confirmation from the police were not available. “That does not mean that AMMA was supporting any person”.
The post was a clear departure from the position taken by AMMA after the general body meeting in Kochi in which it called the victim and Dileep as children of AMMA. The stance of AMMA has been subjected to harsh criticism from various quarters including some from the film industry. Innocent, undergoing treatment in a local hospital, said he could not attend the Tuesday’s meeting but his colleagues informed him of the decision of expelling Dileep.
