CIA team documents border crossings

A small documentary about border crossings from Mexico to the US.

“An average of 442 families and unaccompanied children are caught crossing the Mexican border every day. Half of them get deported by the US Border Partol force," scrolls a line at the beginning of a video shared by Soubin Shahir on his Facebook wall. He was part of the team from the film Comrade in America, to shoot a small documentary about border crossings from Mexico to the US.

The team had shot in these border areas for the film. Mani Skaria, a retired Malayali professor from Texas A&M University, takes us through the Rio Grande River where the crossings happen, and the wall that President Donald Trump is building.

Soubin writes: “One day we actually came across a huge group of people who crossed over the border illegally. Entire families who had sold all their belongings. It was an unbelievable sight and heart breaking to see the real side to something we were trying to capture on screen.”
