Randu Per wins applause at regional international film festival

Randu per dwells on intricacies of relationships in an urban-centric set up.

KOZHIKODE: Randu Per was one among the two Malayalam films included in the competition section of last IFFK and the selection was justified by the audience at the second day of Regional IFFK here on Saturday. The film is brilliant in technical aspects as almost the entire drama is unfolding in a moving car in a night. With limited resources to manipulate the viewer, the film never brings a dull moment but sails through smoothly.

The story dwells deep into the intricacies of human relationships in an urban-centric set up. Queries such as the success mantra of a relation, how monotony affects it and how gender behaves separately in a particular situation have been raised. Speaking at the ‘Meet-the-Director’ session after the movie, director Prem Shankar said that the movie was visualized as being told using many cameras as the protagonist himself is a movie maker who says that he had fit cameras inside the car. “It also deals with gender politics and relationships,” he added. Basil Paulose and Shanti Balachandran are in the lead roles.
