Arun Muraleedharan's musical adventures

Arun Muraleedharan, who composed three songs for Adventures of Omanakuttan, says that this was his first project signed in M'wood.

The songs of Bhavana-Asif Ali-starrer Adventures of Omanakuttan is out on YouTube and the ‘likes’ seem to be growing. The movie has six songs composed by Arun Muraleedharan and Dawn Vincent and one of those is surprisingly a Kannada song. Arun, who has made songs for the hit movie Happy Wedding, has composed three songs for this movie. Asked if this was his first project after Happy Wedding, he politely corrects, “Though Happy Wedding was released first, I had first committed to Adventures of Omanakuttan.

So, in a way, this is my first project. I had even finished most of the work for this movie before Happy Wedding.” ‘Varminnal’, ‘Ilamai’ and ‘Enthanu Mone’ are the three songs Arun has composed for the movie. “Shaktishree Gopalan has lent voice for ‘Ilamai’. Two of the songs are melody and ‘Enthanu mone’ is a fun song.” On working with the team of Adventures of Omanakuttan, Arun says, “The whole crew members are friends. In fact, we all stay together. So I have been part of the discussion throughout. Finally three songs were divided between myself and Dawn. Both our styles are different; I am more into the ‘filmy’ kind of music and Dawn is more into experimentation. So we figured that it will be interesting when two different genres are part of one album.”

He adds, “We did not restrict ourselves to a particular designation assigned to us. Being friends, all of us did everything together. The ultimate aim was for the movie to come out beautifully.” So is he venturing into background score as well? “Since this is my initial stage in the industry, more song compositions are coming my way. But for my next project — Tick-Tock with Tovino in the lead, I will be handling both background score and songs. It is a different kind of project, never attempted before in Mollywood. The theme is time travel.”
