It was in 2013 that Jayasurya-starrer Philips and the Monkey Pen, which earned positive responses from critics as well as the film lovers, hit theatres. The movie directed by new-comers Rojin Thomas and Shanil Mohammed was adjudged one of the best children’s films released in Malayalam. The latest news is that the movie is all set to have its sequel.
Actor-turned-producer Vijay Babu, who bankrolled Philips and the Monkey Pen along with Sandra Thomas, under the banner of Friday Film House, confirms the news and says that talks are on.
“Yes, we are planning to come up with a second part for Monkey Pen. As of now, we cannot say when will it go floors. The scripting is progressing. More details will be divulged soon,” he says adding that the major cast in the first part will reprise their roles in the sequel too. “At the same time, you can expect new actors in Philips and the Moneky Pen 2.”
Jayasurya, Master Sanoop Santhosh, Remya Nambeeshan, Vijay Babu, Joy Mathew, Master Gaurav Menon and Innocent were cast for major roles in Philips and the Monkey pen. Vijay Babu says the sequel of Aadu is being planned.
