Malayalam actress abduction: SIT moves court to curb Dileep visitors
Kochi: The Special Investigation Team probing the actress assault case has approached the Judicial First Class Magistrate court in Angamaly seeking to curb the number of persons visiting actor Dileep at Aluva sub-jail in connection with the case. Circle Inspector Baiju Poulose, who heads the SIT, contended that the visit of a large number of people would affect the course of investigation. Though the prison authorities generally permitted visitors on just two days a week, people came in huge numbers to meet the actor even on the holiday, he said.
The court asked the jail superintendent to produce the list of visitors to Dileep. The police believe that the increase in the number of visitors could be part of an attempt to sabotage the investigation. The court will consider the case on Monday. Several Malayalam film personalities, including Mr K. B. Ganesh Kumar, MLA, had visited the jail to meet the actor. The Nedumbassery police probing the case against Mr P.C. George MLA for allegedly revealing the identity of the actress has collected the statements of the actor. Earlier, the actor had sent a letter seeking intervention of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the issue.
Meanwhile ctor Sreenivasan has iterated his earlier statement that Dileep is unlikely to be involved in the incident connected with the abduction and sexual assault of a female actor. Speaking to reporters in Kochi on Saturday he said. “I firmly believe that Dileep has not committed anything wrong. Dileep will not commit such foolish things”, he said. The innocence of Dileep will be proved by the time, he added.
