Pulsar Suni mum on conspiracy; SIT may seek extension of custody
Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the actor abduction and sexual assault case, is likely to seek extension of police custody of key accused Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni on Monday after they failed to make desired headway in investigation into the conspiracy angle in the case. Though the cops almost completed probe in the phone call episode, Suni is refusing to co-operate when it comes to queries relating to conspiracy and the quotation given to him to carry out attack on a female actress on February 17 last.
On Sunday, the cops shifted him to an undisclosed location for detailed interrogation with his five-day police custody set to end on Monday. “We want his extended custody so as to take the investigation into a logical conclusion. We may seek his custody citing probe into theft of SIM card and handing it over to him for usage in jail,” sources said. Meanwhile, Imran, the Malappuram native held for stealing SIM card from Coimbatore, was presented before the Kakkanad Judicial Magistrate who remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody. Earlier the cops took Imran along with three other accused Vipinlal, Masthiri Sunil and Vishnu to a shop at Broadway as part of evidence collection.
The accused had bought the shoe, used for smuggling in mobile phone to the cell of Pulsar Suni at Kakkanad district jail, from the shop. Vishnu had cut open the shoe sole and sued it again after hiding the phone in it. Meanwhile, Suni’s lawyer B A Aloor said the defense counsel would oppose any move of the cops seeking extension of Suni’s police custody. “We’ll take up cops subjecting him to custodial torture,” he said.
