The lovable enemy

Justin John, who played the memorable role of the hero's enemy in Premam, will be seen next in Happy Wedding with his Premam mates.

It is difficult to not love any character from the movie Premam, so much so that one begins to fall into that long session of nostalgic depression reminiscing about their vibrant college days.

Not only does one miss the old friends, one also misses the enemies. This is exactly the feeling that the character Justin left in our minds. Played by actor Justin John, his transition from the old harmless college villain to the good guy by the end of the movie is hard to miss.

Justin will be back on the big screen along with his mates from Premam for the new movie Happy Wedding. “I will be sharing the screen with Siju Wilson, Sharafudeen and Soubin Shahir; all of them were part of Premam as well.”

Speaking more about the movie, he says, “This is my first work after Premam. I have a pretty good screen space in this movie. I play a character named Tyson and appear in a flashback set in college. The story revolves around the life of a simple guy who completed his studies from an engineering college and the funny situations that happen during a wedding.

The entire experience was really good.”
So how did the character Justin happen? “I am basically a graphic designer and now I am into freelancing. My first movie was Plus 2 shot in 2009 when I was working. After that, I did a few movies. I liked the experience and did not want to stop trying. Later on, I met Siju during a reality show and that is how I came to know Alphonse.

How is life after Premam? “It is very good. Things are quite different now. When I go out somewhere, people do recognise me. But as of now, I am taking things slow. I’m looking out for good characters; there must be some scope for good performance.”

Happy Wedding is all set for release on May 20. The movie is directed by debutant Omar. Siju will be seen in the lead role of an engineer in the family entertainer produced by Nazir Ali, and Justin will play his friend.
