Malayalam actress abduction: Cops question theatre owner
Kochi: Expanding the probe horizon in the actor abduction and sexual assault case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has decided to quiz all those persons related to the cinema field who had frequently rung up a prominent actor and his aides in the last six months. As part of this, the cops on Saturday took statement from a Kannur-based theatre owner besides monitoring a few others involved in cinema-field related works. Meanwhile, with only a day to go for the completion of police custody of Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni, the main accused in the case, the police took him along with two others -- Masthiri Sunil and Vipinlal, for evidence collection at the Kakkanad district jail.
“The evidence collection was done in connection with the probe into the phone calls made by the accused from inside the jail to the friend and manager of an actor. They were asked to explain how they stashed the phone inside the prison and made the calls secretly. While the accused is admitted to have made the calls for the “promised money”, the trio is giving contradictory statements as to whom Suni had called,” sources said. Meanwhile, the cops also decided to probe whether there was any deliberate attempt to sideline the female actor by persons within the film industry earlier. The cops will take statements from the circles close to the actor in this regard.
