Deepak Dev's Anjali

The composer is all set to release the popular song Anjali, which he composed as a background track for King Liar.

Just few days after the release of Dileep-starrer King Liar, fans and moviegoers were hunting down the background score Anjali Anjali from the movie. All of eight lines, the song has turned out to be a huge hit although it does not feature as a full-length song.

Owing to the growing demand for the full song and video, Deepak Dev, who did the background score for King Liar, had to put up a clarification on his official Facebook page — “Thank you so much for the sweet words of appreciation for the background score of King Liar. Shall surely upload the song Anjali for you all. There has been some confusion regarding the song composed by Alex Paul. Well here it is... Perum nuna Puzha has been composed by Alex Paul; everything else connected to music in this movie is mine... Good evening.”

As the song continues to be in discussion, it was Deepak Dev’s sound engineer Arjun Muraleedharan who found himself dealing with overnight unexpected stardom after lending voice to the score. “It was completely unexpected and accidental. Deepak sir had asked me to sing something just to test the mic,” says Arjun.

Explaining more about Anjali, Deepak says, “It was not planned as a full song. When I saw the scene in the movie, I felt that there was scope for a song or some instrumental piece there, so I asked Lal (director) if we could include something there and he gave me the green signal.”

On how Arjun got the chance, Deepak says, “Arjun was there when I was composing the song. It was then I happened to receive a new mic. Arjun was connecting the mic and I was curious to hear how it sounded and asked him to sing something into it. To my surprise, he sang this song. I never knew he could sing. I really liked his voice, it was very fresh, something that I was hunting for. I didn’t tell him anything then though,” he chuckles. “Since Alex Paul is the music composer, we did not want to promote it either. But now, the team is going to come up with a making video,” explains Deepak.
