Malayalam actress abduction: Nadirshah seeks anticipatory bail

The SIT is expected to file the additional chargesheet in two weeks.

Kochi: Actor-director Nadirshah on Thursday moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail after the Special Investigation Team probing the abduction sexual assault of a female actor asked him to appear before it again. In his bail petition, the close aide of actor Dileep, currently in jail for conspiracy charges in the case, claimed that the cops were pressurising him to give false statements and threatening to arrest him. He further informed the court that he had earlier been subjected to long hours of interrogation and that he had co-operated with the police.

He pointed out that he was innocent and that the police did not lodge any charge against him so far. Earlier, the police asked him to appear at the Aluva police club on Wednesday afternoon for questioning after investigation “revealed” that his earlier statements were “false and contradicting”. However, Nadirshah got himself admitted to a private hospital here complaining of chest pain and dodged the interrogation section. This even as sources said the possibility of his arrest “cannot be ruled out” and that the cops were ready to confront him with “evidences”.

“We’ll have to question him again in connection with the case. But he got himself admitted. The investigation officers will take a collective decision on the future course of action now that he had moved court for anticipatory bail,” said A V George, Superintendent, Ernakulam Rural. The police official, however, denied the cops threatening the director with arrest. Meanwhile, the hospital sources said Nadirshah was complaining of gastric problems and chest congestion. “We found variation in his blood pressure and currently he is under observation,” they said. The cops are learnt to have sought a report from the hospital on his health condition so that he can be quizzed at the earliest. The SIT is expected to file the additional chargesheet in two weeks.
