Kerala actor assault: Police yet to link all proof
Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the conspiracy behind the actor abduction and sexual assault case will question more persons having links with a prominent actor as the team fails to piece together clues and evidence collected so far. This comes even as the team managed to arrest one Imran, who had arranged SIM card for Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni, the main accused in the case, to make phone calls from inside the Kakkanad jail. During interrogation, he admitted to cops that he bought the SIM card along with a phone for Rs 300 from Coimbatore and handed it to Vishnu, Suni’s aide. Imran knew Vishnu when they had earlier served jail terms together. The cops are trying to find details regarding the real estate deals involving persons from the cine field. “We need concrete proof to prove conspiracy,” sources said.
The cops subjected Pulsar Suni to interrogation for the third straight day to find out about the person or persons who had hired him to attack the actor. He was first quizzed alone and then interrogated together with Vishnu, Vipin Lal and ‘Mesteri’ Suni. The Kakkanad Magistrate Court earlier in the day sent Vishu and Vipin to police custody on a petition filed by the SIT stating that their custodial interrogation was vital to unravel details of the phone call made by Suni from inside the jail, a major evidence in the case.
Meanwhile, the duo are learnt to have given contrasting statements to the police, which made the cops interrogate them together with Suni. Vipin Lal also told waiting media on the court premises that the letter purportedly written by Pulsar Suni was actually written by him under pressure from the jail officials and Suni himself. He added that he was not aware of any conspiracy in the case and that Suni didn’t reveal anything to him in jail. However, another accused, Vishnu, said there was indeed a “conspiracy” in the case though Suni didn’t mention about involvement of any actor. Meanwhile, a petition filed by advocate BA Aloor to cancel police custody of Suni accusing the cops of torturing his client was dismissed by the court. It also denied permission to the counsel to visit Suni during the custody period.
