Babusenan brothers take second film to MAMI
There are no nude scenes this time, no expletives as such. But the going may still be tough, reckons Satish Babusenan, one of the directors of Chaayam Poosiya Veedu or The Painted House, which had run into a lot of controversy last year. He, with his brother Santosh Babusenan, has brought out a new film called Ottayaal Paatha (The Narrow Path), about the difficult relationship between a father (played by K. Kaladharan) and a son (played by Sarath Sabha).
“The dad is crippled, and the son doesn’t have a job. He looks after the old man, but the dad proves to be a difficult man. The son then decides to run away with his girlfriend Neena, played by Krishnapriya,” says Satish. The film has been selected for the competition category of the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, becoming the only Malayalam film in the section. The Painted House had run into a controversy when the director duo refused to cut down the scenes the censor board had asked them to and succeeded in getting the film certified after going to the high court.
