K.V. Shabareesh, who has been working in film productions of Tamil and Malayalam industries for years, is turning a producer with the Tamil film Kaaviyyan, directed by Parthasarathy I.V.. A Malayali who has worked more in the Tamil film industry, Shabareesh a.k.a. Vinod, thought he should start there.

“It is a road thriller shot mostly in Las Vegas. An Indian police officer who reaches America has a problem with another Indian there. A Hollywood artiste plays the villain, but we can’t reveal who it is. That’s a suspense,” says Shabareesh.

“It is the first South Indian film that is mostly shot in Vegas, other films have had shorter sequences before.” The film will also have two Malayali heroines — Athmeeya Rajen who has appeared in movies like Rose Guitarinal and Amoeba, and Sridevi Kumar, a US Malayali. Actor Shaam will be the hero of the film, produced under the banner of 2M Cinemas. Kaaviyyan starts shooting in July.
