Tovino Thomas and Wamiqa in Basil Joseph's Godha

Thira scribe Rakesh Mantodi will write the screenplay for this film.

It has been around 30 years since a film talking about gusthi (wrestling) was made in Malayalam. The last one we saw was Sibi Malayil’s directorial debut Mutharamkunnu P O. Now, Basil Joseph, who debuted with Vineeth Sreenivasan-starrer Kunjiramayanam, is all set to call the shots for his next film titled as Godha, which focuses on the life of a wrestler.

The director says, “Godha is set against the backdrop of wrestling in Punjab. Tovino Thomas, Bollywood actress Wamiqa Gabbi and Renji Panicker will essay the central characters in the film while Aju Varghese appears in a crucial role. Renji sir will be seen in the role of a wrestling coach.” Wamiqa is known for her roles in Jab We Met, Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam and Sixteen.

Thira scribe Rakesh Mantodi will write the screenplay for this film. “We were working on the script for the past eight months. It will be an out and out sports-oriented comdey film,” says the director.

“The major portion of the film will be shot at Patiala and Chandigarh, besides Kerala,” he adds. While Vishnu Sarma cranks the camera, You Too Brutus fame Abhinav Sunder Nayak will be the editor of the film, which will be produced by E4 Entertainment.
