Malayalam actress assault: Rimi gives 164 statement
KOCHI: The Special Investigation Team probing the actress assault case had a busy schedule on Thursday with singer-actor Rimy Tomy making a statement under 164. Charlie, the seventh accused in the case from Coimbatore revealed that Dileep entrusted gangster Sunilkumar alias Pulsar Suni to attack the actress. Rimy Tomy made the statement a day after Dileep was granted bail by the High Court.
The SIT had earlier questioned Rimy Tomy on the assumption that the singer-actor is privy to some details on the rift between Dileep and the actress. Rimy Tomy has close connections with Dileep and Kavya Madhavan and the actress, who was abducted and assaulted. The SIT thinks that Rimy can provide vital information regarding the developments during the stage programme in the US in which Dileep and the actress were present.
According to police, Dileep was embittered with the actress as he believed that she was instrumental in informing Manju Warrier about his affair with Kavya Madhavan during the US trip. Sources also said that Charlie, accused of sheltering Pulsar Sunil and his accomplices after the assault, had confirmed that Dileep was behind the conspiracy. Sunil had told him that Dileep had assigned the work to him for Rs 1.5 crore. Charlie was the first person to whom Sunil confessed about the involvement of Dileep. Sunil had also promised to pay Rs 7 lakh to Charlie for arranging them a safe hideout. Sources said Charlie is likely to be made an approver in the case.
