Actress abduction case: Dileep back at FEUOK helm

The incumbent president Antony Perumbavoor, who has relinquished the post, will continue as the vice-president of the organization.

Kochi: Actor Dileep, who was granted bail by the Kerala High Court on Tuesday, has been reelected as the president of the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) during a meeting held in Kochi on Wednesday. Dileep was removed from the post on July 11, after he was arrested in the case connected with the abduction and sexual assault of a female actor.

The incumbent president Antony Perumbavoor, who has relinquished the post, will continue as the vice-president of the organization. FEOUK was formed mainly at the initiative of Dileep in the wake of a tug of war between film producers and exhibitors which led to the closure of many cinema halls in the state early this year.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Antony Perumbavoor said all members in the organisation wanted the return of Dileep. Dileep was removed to facilitate the day-to-day operations of the organisation and there was a clear understanding that he would assume the post after his return, he added. The action has nothing to do with the police case or the proceedings in the court, he added.
