Director Rosshan Andrrews’s new film Kayamkulam Kochunni, with Nivin Pauly in the lead, is a dramatic narration of Kerala’s legendary outlaw hero, who stole from the rich and gave it to the poor. The incidents, as written by scriptwriters Bobby and Sanjay, date back to the early 19th century. Gokulam Gopalan is the producer and Binodh Pradhan is the DOP. Back in 1966, a film on Kochunni had come under the same name, directed by P.A. Thomas and produced by Kunchacko, with Sathyan playing the title role.
