Quality is Vineeth's choice

Vineeth Vishwam's commitment to acting is what has seen him through all his roles.

It was his dream and passion to get associated with films that lead Vineeth Vishwam to finally act in movies, which, as he puts it, even though have not offered him lead roles, have indeed given him important characters. Be it his debut movie Angamaly Diaries or the recent flick Abhasam, Vineeth has a clear idea about the kind of roles he is looking for.

“I know I am just a beginner and I am working hard to get new roles. However, I don’t have regrets that I rejected some projects too as I didn’t want to take up movies just for the sake of doing them. I try to associate with directors and scripts that are like coaching classes for me. This is the only reason I took up a very small role in Solo.” This is one of the reasons why the young actor has a lot to speak about his recent movie Aabhaasam, which according to him is a social satire that very effectively portrays the culture of the people of our country.

Explaining that it was the realism in the subject that caught his attention, Vineeth says, “It is actually true that if you observe how people behave while travelling in public transport, you get to understand the culture of the people of that particular area. The movie too is a take on the various scenarios happening in society through the eyes of different people. It shows how different people react to various situations. Every person in the movie represents a community and their thought process. My role is that of a software engineer and therefore my mannerisms reflect how IT professionals in general react to a situation.”

Reacting on the censor issues that the movie had to go through, Vineeth says it is really unfortunate that the board, which is responsible to promote genuine contents, is imposing a ban on movies like Aabhaasam and giving a clean chit to those that have demeaning dialogues in the name of entertainment. “When we react to a certain situation we need not always use words that are polite. It just comes out of frustration or any other feeling that a person encounters at that point. Movies that deal with real issues will definitely have such dialogues and chopping them unnecessarily is not good practice.” The actor, who has also worked as assistant director in Ranjith Shanker films, will be next seen in Asif Ali-starrer Mandaram.
