Mollywood was Roshni Singh's birthday gift

Roshni Singh's entry to films was quite accidental when she had just walked in to a branded store on her birthday.

One of the comments that young actress Roshni Singh gets frequently to her surprise is that she resembles International singer and actress Selena Gomez at times. It’s a comment that she still brushes off as unbelievable. This upcoming actor is winning hearts with her girl-next- door looks.

Even though she is not a Malayali, Roshni grew up in Kerala. After years of residing in Kerala, she is one amongst us and has also mastered Malayalam like a pro!

When asked about her entry to the industry, she says, “I started off as a model when I was 8. I went to a branded store back then on my birthday where they had a designing competition, for which I won the first prize. They had organised a fashion show where we had to walk the ramp with the dress we designed.”
There was no turning back for Roshni from then on.

Her first movie was V K Prakash’s Trivandrum Lodge. “I played Bhavana’s childhood in the movie. The major breakthrough was Nirnayakam and Su Su Sudhi Vatmeekam. I believe people recognised me after my role in Su Su Sudhi Valmeekam. People started taking note also after my role in Kattumakkan, where I played a lead in one of the stories in the movie.”

Roshni, who is basically from Delhi, came to Ernakulam when she was three years old and settled here. Speaking about her next project, she says, “I am waiting for Dance Dance to release. Directed by Nizar sir, the film has D4 Dance title winner Ramzan Muhammed in the lead role.”

Reminiscing more about an unforgettable experience while working with V. K. Prakash for Nirnayakam, she says, “During the shoot of Nirnayakam, I had exams. So I was studying for the exams and my dialogues simultaneously. But then VKP sir helped me a lot, he gave me enough time to perfect my shot even when he had to keep other experienced actors waiting.”

Roshni, who is currently a standard 12 student pursuing Computer Science at Seventh Day Adventist School, says, “My friends and parents are my greatest support.” On her future plans, she says, “Although I will continue acting, I’m also planning to take forward my computer studies.”
