Mundram Pirai to be screened

The film, which was released in 1982, will be screened at 6.30 pm.

Changampuzha Samskarika Kendram will hold the screening of Tamil film Mundram Pirai on Sunday in memory of the versatile actor, Sridevi Kapoor, who passed away in Dubai last week, Tributes have been pouring in for Bollywood actress, and this is one of the best ways to celebrate the wonderful years of her film career. Mundram Pirai, considered to be one of her finest films, featured Kamal Haasan in the lead role, while Silk Smitha, Poornam Vishwanathan and Y. G. Mahendra played supporting roles. The film fetched Kamal a National Film Award for best actor and Balu Mahendra the award for best cinematography. It bagged five state film awards, including one for Sridevi for best actress.

The film, unfolds the story of a young woman who suffers a major head injury in a car accident after which she begins behaving like a child. Trapped at a brothel, she finds hope in a lonely school teacher who decides to rescue her.

The film, which was released in 1982, will be screened at 6.30 pm.
