All set for release is the first Malayalam movie on homosexuality after the amendment to the controversial Article 377. Jayan Cherian’s Ka Bodyscapes, which has been denied screening since 2016 by the CBFC citing legal complexities and has been embroiled in a long Censor tussle, is all set to hit the screens this Friday.
The movie that discusses the life of three youngsters – an artist, his model partner and a women’s rights activist – revolves around their fight against identity and gender issues, religious extremism, capitalism, and pseudo-moralistic Malayali psyche.
Screened at various international film festivals across the globe, Ka Bodyscapes has been accused of ‘glorifying’ homosexuality, the reason for denial of screening so far. Jason Chacko, Kannan Rajan and Nasreena play the lead in the film.
