Kochi: The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Angamaly, on Saturday granted permission to actor Dileep to attend his father's death anniversary ritual on September 6. He had filed an application before the court seeking permission to attend the 'shraadh' of his father who died on August 18, 2008. The court also extended the actor's judicial custody till September 16. Dileep submitted that the annual obsequies of his father would be held at his residence at Aluva and on the river bank of Periyar at Aluva near his house.
Only the immediate family members will take part in the religious and customary function. Dileep sought permission to attend the functions from 7 a.m. to 11.45 p.m. on September 6. The police opposed the move stating that Dileep had not attended the event in previous years and urged the court to dismiss the application. Dileep was arrested on July 10 and since then he has been lodged in Aluva sub-jail, just 1.5 km from his house. Dileep was arraigned as an accused in the abduction and sexual assault of an actress.
