Rima mom, Unni dad to Clint
“He is lucky to have got a mother like Chinnamma, she’d wake up every morning to oil the tricycle he rode. As for me, one day when he said he didn’t feel like writing his exam I brought him back home. I don’t know if I was right or wrong as a father,” Joseph said, and the crowd listening to him broke into applause. There is a big picture of his son behind him on a poster — the famous child prodigy artist Clint Edmund Joseph, who made more than 30,000 paintings and died before he turned seven. In front of it are familiar faces from the film industry including director Harikumar who on Thursday announced his film on Clint, titled Clint, at its Pooja ceremony in Kochi.
Harikumar introduced his cast he had kept as a surprise. Alok who plays Clint looks as good as the original, commented Joy Mathew who plays a doctor. Clint’s parents are played by Rima Kallingal and Unni Mukundan. Vinay Forrt, KPAC Lalitha, Renji Panikker and Salim Kumar also play important roles. Clint’s real life parents too act. “It’s a mix of real life and fiction,” Harikumar says. Gokulam Gopalan is the producer and K.V. Mohan Kumar IAS co-wrote the script with Harikumar. Madhu Ambat is doing the cinematography, Prabha Varma the lyrics, and the best news of all, Harikumar says, is that Ilaiyaraaja is composing the music. They also exhibited a few of Clint’s paintings and released a book ‘Chithra Varna Chirakulla Oru Kutti’.
