Malayalam actress abduction: Chargesheet not leaked, says SIT
Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the actor abduction and sexual assault case, has informed a local court that the chargesheet in the case was not leaked by the police. In its affidavit submitted before the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate court, the SIT further stated that an inquiry has been initiated to find out how the contents of the chargesheet got leaked and appeared in media reports. Actor Dileep, eighth accused in the case, had on Monday last approached the magistrate court charging that the SIT had leaked contents of the supplementary chargesheet even before the court had accepted the same.
He requested the court to seek explanation from the SIT pointing out that the leakage at an early stage would affect the trial of the case. Meanwhile, Dileep, who had gone to Al Karama in Dubai to launch a new outlet of his eatery chain, has returned to Kochi. He also has returned his passport, police sources said. The High Court had, on November 22, granted Dileep permission to travel to Dubai and directed the Angamaly court to release his passport for six days. Meanwhile, the High Court has sent a notice to the state government seeking an explanation over a complaint that the actor was given VIP treatment at the Aluva Jail. The SIT had arrested Dileep on July 10 on conspiracy charges. He spent 85 days in jail before being released on October 3 when the High Court granted him bail.
