Aashiq Abu’s Virus wins accolades

The sound track, one of the highlights of the movie, was composed and arranged by Sushin Shyam.

Director Aashiq Abu is on cloud nine. His latest work, the critically-acclaimed medical thriller Virus based on the 2018 Nipah outbreak that shook Kerala, has won the Best Indian Feature Film Award at the popular Jagran Film Festival in Mumbai. Aashiq shared his happiness with the audience on his social media handle by posting a picture taken from the venue.

Released on June 7 this year, the movie written by Muhsin Parari, Sharfu and Suhas features an ensemble cast that includes Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Tovino Thomas, Rahman, Indrajith Sukumaran, Indrans, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Dileesh Pothan, Rima Kallingal, Madonna Sebastian, Ramya Nambeeshan, Joju George, and Revathi. The film was shot in and around Government Medical College, Kozhikode. The sound track, one of the highlights of the movie, was composed and arranged by Sushin Shyam.

Rima Das, who is known for her works such as Village Rockstars and Bulbul can Sing, and well-known Bengali director Aparna Sen shared the Best Director Award. Organised since 2010, Jagran Film Festival aims at promoting films beyond the metropolitan cities.
