Utthara Unni's patience bears fruit

Meanwhile, she is busy teaching dance at her newly launched dance school in Mumbai.

At the other end, actor Utthara Unni sounds relaxed. Any why not? After many hurdles, Edavapathi — her debut movie directed by Lenin Rajendran has hit the theatres. Utthara, who feels happy about the response to her movie says, “The response is good. Not only the art-movie lovers, but others also like it pretty much. Some of my friends who watched the movie said anyone could relate to it.”

It was Utthara’s firm decision to begin her career with Edavapathi. Although it’s shoot and release got delayed due to various reasons, she did not choose another movie to mark her entry. “It was because I wouldn’t have got a better entry to Mollywood than through Edavapathi. The story is good and I play a double role in it. The scope of performance too was high. The shooting of Edavapathi was halted three times — first due to Jagathy chettan’s accident, then Manisha ma’m had to stay away for cancer treatment. The third time, we had to stop due to the earthquake in Nepal,” says Utthara, who believes everything happened for the good.

“There were some gains too due to the delay — we could find better locations and I could improve and deliver a matured performance,” she says. Utthara has not accepted any other offer. She is waiting for good roles. Meanwhile, she is busy teaching dance at her newly launched dance school in Mumbai.
