Toxic Faces Drop; Nolan’s The Odyssey Replaces It in IMAX Theaters
Following the backlash, occupancy rates dropped significantly on IMAX screens, leading theaters to replace showings with Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster hit, The Odyssey.
Toxic, starring Yash, opened to negative reviews on day one despite high expectations. Critics and audiences trolled the film for its poor execution, weak characterization, and subpar visuals.
Following the backlash, occupancy rates dropped significantly on IMAX screens, leading theaters to replace showings with Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster hit, The Odyssey. As a result of these replacements, The Odyssey has started trending on social media. Meanwhile, several non-premium screens in North India are replacing Toxic with re-releases of Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 and Ravi Teja’s Irumudi.
Helmed by Geetu Mohandas, the film features Yash in dual roles alongside an ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara (seen in this week's other release Hi), Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria (she just called Yash a male feminist on a podcast), and Rukmini Vasanth (whose role in the second half is underwritten).
