Rukmini Vasanth Needs to Be Choosy in Tollywood, Says Producer
He feels her role in Toxic has already triggered some criticism among Telugu audiences.

A noted producer feels Kannada actress Rukmini Vasanth needs to be more selective with her roles if she wants to build a strong career in Telugu cinema.
“Rukmini is part of one of the biggest upcoming Telugu films, Dragon, alongside superstar NTR Jr. This is a major opportunity for her, but she needs to choose the right roles and films to establish herself in Tollywood,” says the producer.
He feels her role in Toxic has already triggered some criticism among Telugu audiences. “She received negative feedback for her ill-defined role in Toxic. Over the years, audiences have associated Rukmini with characters that have more emotional depth than glamour. Toxic changed that perception to some extent,” he adds.
While the film features Rukmini in a glamorous avatar, some viewers felt her character lacked the impact of the roles played by Kiara Advani and Tara Sutaria. "Her casting and portrayal also sparked debate on social media, with a section of the audience questioning her decision to take up a role involving intimate and glamorous elements," he points out..
Rukmini had largely built a positive image through performances in emotionally driven characters, and the shift in Toxic came as a surprise to some of her followers. While some viewers criticized her choice, others defended the actress for attempting something different.
The bigger question now is whether the criticism surrounding Toxic will influence her future choices. With Dragon expected to be a major Telugu release, the film could play an important role in determining how Rukmini is perceived by Telugu audiences.
