Kamal Haasan Shares Emotional Birthday Tribute to Late Director Bharathirajaa

Actor Kamal Haasan penned an emotional post recalling his friendship with Tamil director Bharathirajaa on the occasion of the late filmmaker's birthday.

The Thug Life actor wrote on X, "Today, although my dear friend Bharathiraja is not among us to receive our birthday wishes, his creations remain. My heart swells with gratitude as I fondly recall the friendship he cherished."

Bharathirajaa passed away on June 10, 2026, due to age-related issues. He was fondly addressed as "Iyakkunar Imayam," which translates to "the peak of directors." Bharathirajaa introduced female leads whose names started with the letter 'R,' such as Radha, in his films. The late director was a Padma Shri recipient. Although he had stayed away from direction in his final years, Bharathirajaa took up acting, starring alongside top actors including Dhanush in the mega-hit 'Thiruchitrambalam.' His son, actor Manoj, predeceased him.
