Crowds Gather at Velankanni Church for Actor-Politician Vijay

Thousands of fans gathered at the Velankanni church in Tamil Nadu on Saturday. They arrived after rumors spread that actor and politician Vijay would visit the shrine. People started arriving at the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health as early as midnight. Many fans carried mobile phones and waited inside and outside the church.
The situation became tense when the crowd began chanting TVK. This is the name of Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Church authorities had to intervene to maintain order. They asked the fans to remain calm. Officials reminded the public to respect the religious sanctity of the location.
