After Parashakti, Sreeleela is expected to carve a strong space for herself there, expert says.
After sharing screen space with Telugu actress Rashmika Mandanna in Kubera, National Award-winning actor Dhanush is reportedly set to romance another Telugu actress, Sreeleela, in his upcoming Tamil film directed by Rajkumar Periyaswamy.
Interestingly, Sreeleela made her Kollywood debut with Parashakti and has since been receiving attractive offers. “She is also doing a film with Tamil star Pradeep Ranganathan and is clearly in demand,” says a source, adding that the Tamil film industry is currently facing a shortage of leading actresses. “Sreeleela has entered Tamil cinema at the right time and is expected to carve a strong space for herself there.”
Director Rajkumar Periyaswamy, who drew a standout performance from Sai Pallavi in Amaran, is said to have crafted a substantial role for the young actress. “This film will give Sreeleela a chance to showcase her acting abilities and move beyond the ‘dancing girl’ image,” the source points out. Matching performances with an actor of Dhanush’s calibre is also expected to be a fresh and exciting challenge for her.
Sreeleela rose to fame in Tollywood with commercial hits like Dhamaka and Guntur Kaaram, while her performance-driven role in Bhagavanth Kesari—where she transformed from a timid young woman into a fearless action-oriented character—earned appreciation. However, setbacks with films like Skanda and Extra Ordinary Man reportedly impacted her momentum, prompting her shift towards Tamil cinema.
