Not joining any political party, says Prabhu

Udhaya, who also doubles up as a producer, said, I debuted as a hero in Prabhu sir starrer Thirunelveli in the year 2000.

“I am not joining the Congress party and for that matter not any other party as well,” actor Prabhu clarified. There have been rumours about his foray into politics which is what he denied at the promo meet of his upcoming flick Uttharavu Maharaja.

Uttharavu...directed by Asif Kuraishi has Udhaya and Priyanka in the lead. Speaking at the event, Prabhu said, “Uttharavu Maharaja has a unique story. I have introduced more than 70 new directors. Even now I am part of debut filmmakers’ movies. There have been reports that I am joining the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi is visiting my home. My dad Sivaji Ganesan was in the Congress and worked for its growth. Leaders like Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have visited ‘Annai Illam’. Rahul is always welcome to my house. I am not joining any political party. If I do, I will make an official announcement.”

Udhaya, who also doubles up as a producer, said, “I debuted as a hero in Prabhu sir starrer Thirunelveli in the year 2000. After that we are coming together in this film. Priyanka from Kerala is unassuming and was very cooperative. I am planning to release the film on November 16. Heard that Jayam Ravi’s Adanga Maru and Sethupathi’s Seethakathi are to hit the theatres on the same day. Then things would become tough for small films. Hope the Producers Council would do something to sort it out.”
